Early Years: In 1900, “Wisconsin Carriage Works”, who had the reputation
for building quality farm wagons, sleights and cutters decided the auto
might adversely affect their historic business. So they put their efforts
into the design and manufacturing of coaster wagons, “skudder” cars and
other sidewalk toys. Their toys were sold by the thousands and gained a
nationwide reputation. It was at this time the company decided to change
their name to the “Janesville Products Company”. Toys were advertised
regularly in such national publications as the Saturday Evening Post.
