According to Utility Truck Bodies, Inc. the name Utility Body goes back
to 1953, when a pioneer named Jack Podlesak started a company to provide a
safe, workable alternative to pick-up beds. The utility and phone companies
were among the first to recognize the potential cost savings and extra
security provided, with the private sector right behind them
In 1989, upon Jack's retirement, former employees of the company (the
Chief Engineer, Plant Superintendent and Sales Manager) decided to pool
their resources and continue the tradition of bodies Built to Work...Built
to Last! Thus Utility Truck Bodies, Inc. was formed.
