Adam G. Trabold built experimental automobiles in 1898 and in 1905 and
ran an automobile agency for ten years prior to introducing the Trabold
4-cylinder c.o.e. truck in 1911. Chain drive was used. A range of trucks
with the Buda 4-cylinder engine under the hood was introduced in 1913. Bevel
gear drive was used in some models from 1915 and worm drive was adopted in
1923. Throughout manufacture Trabold relied on Buda engines. Production
exceeded 100 trucks per year in the mid-1920s, when 1 ½ -ton and 2 ½ -ton
models were offered. After 1929 production was on a custom basis. Some of
the last trucks were fitted with the Lycoming 8-cylinder engine and
hydraulic four-wheel-brakes. The Trabold Company built truck bodies until
1960.
