Providence coachbuilder, R.I. Vehicle Company started offering
professional cars in the late Teens. Glass-sided hearses were fashionable again, and R.I. Vehicle offered a
heavy-looking 8-columned version whose tassel-draped interior looked like a Masonic Temple on wheels.
A 1920 ad showing an 8-column carved-panel hearse built for C.H. Page
states that the firm had been in business since 1823 and offered "Super-fine
Bodies for Hearse, Ambulance and Combination Purposes".
"You have your choice of Chassis"
"If you are contemplating buying a Motor Hearse, would be pleased to
submit figures on New and Rebuilt Bodies. Chassis lengthened by us are
guaranteed. "
