E&L Transport built 100 super-tall twin-engined COE-type semi-tractors
during WWII using modified Ford engines and chassis. Designed to tow
super-sized trailers containing B-24 Liberator wings and fuselages, the
units were subsequently used for auto transport after the war. Mechanical
Handling Systems built the super-sized trailers that carried the bombers.
