Keenan Hanley, former chief engineer for the Prospect Fire Engine
Company, formed his own company in 1934 and built a number of small pumpers
on commercial chassis. In 1940 he built a quadruple pumper combination
powered by a Y-16 engine of Marmon design, though built by Hanley. This used
GMC sheet metal, but two more Y16s built in 1941, a triple combination and
a ladder truck, had custom-built cabs somewhat resembling the postwar
Ahrens-Fox. These were the only 16-cylinder fire engines ever made.
