The parent company is a diversified corporation; this division used to be
the Recreational Vehicle Division, and the "transit coach" is a modified
motor home. The first ones built were delivered in November 1974 to Denver,
and after extensive trials and reworking were placed in service early in
1975. These are equipped with hydraulic wheelchair lifts and internal
locking devices to secure several wheelchairs in position. Similar features
may be had on other recently-introduced makes of small buses, in response to
a demand from handicapped persons and politicians for accessibility to
public transit.
