Bill Motors Co.,
Oakland, California
Louis H. Bill had been
associated with the Fageol plant in Oakland from its early days and went
into business for himself in 1933 when Fageol was shut down. Employing the
designs of Harry E. Curtis, his company delivered a 20- passenger
front-drive bus with an 8-cylinder Lycoming engine and a 144-inch wheelbase.
A 10-ton truck was also made.
National Bus Lines, Los
Angeles, California
National Bus Lines was
an unregulated interstate operator based in Los Angeles which began in
September 1934 with leased vehicles. Later in that year two low-slung
streamlined 20-passenger Ford-powered buses were placed in service, known as
Curtis-National buses. The company and the buses were sold in 1936 to All
American Bus Lines, and only those two Curtis-Nationals were ever built.
