Brown Industries introduced the "Sunset Coach" in February 1936. It was
one of several streamlined buses of that era to use airplane-type frameless
construction in order to reduce weight. The original Brown bus weighed less
than three tons, had 24 reclining intercity seats, and was powered by a
rear-mounted Ford V-8. Later in 1936 the firm turned from Ford to Hercules
engines and announced a 28-passenger version. With minor revisions these two
types were the only models Brown built. They continued to appear in
tabulations of available bus models published in trade journals until 1938,
though there was no advertising after 1936. There is no record of total
Brown production, which was probably less than 50 buses.
